The ATMEX 2020 Marketplace will have more reach than ever
One of the main changes and trends this year is the digitization of the work and meetings, we have all experienced these changes in the way we interact with others.
The Underestimated Superheroes
As the OTA´s and airlines no longer took more calls, the travel agents and tour operators, like superheroes, braved the storm and came to the rescue demonstrating their huge value.
Plan B: Re-Imagining Tourism
“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.”
― Rahm Emanuel (former Chicago mayor)
Conservation: Priority for the sustainable development of adventure and nature tourism.
Mexico is one of the megadiverse countries on the planet, only some countries have this distinction and this makes our country one of the most attractive places for tourism worldwide. The megadiverse countries are a “select group of nations that possess the greatest diversity of animals and plants, almost 70% of the world’s diversity of species”. Regenerative Tourism: The Natural Maturation of Sustainability
Recognition that the economic engine of tourism, as currently practiced, is unsustainable, is slowly entering mainstream awareness. Mexico’s future relies on the Adventure and Nature Travel Industry.
Among all the things that we need to solve in our country, there’s the issue of many communities marginalization and the terribly accelerated environment deterioration that our ecosystem is suffering. However, there is hope because the Adventure and Nature Tourism Industry, if is carried out in a responsible way, may help to tackle this problems.
The Magic (and importance) of local guides in nature tours
As entrepreneurs or as guides specialized in nature tourism, we are used to receive recognition from our clients when things go well at the end of every tour, and in most of those occasions we consider that this recognition, is a direct consequence of our effort, knowledge and skills, although its is true, we usually overlook a key piece in such success: Local guides.
Why ATMEX?
We know that Mexico reached the number six position amongst the most visited countries in the world, as was reported by the Secretary of Tourism in 2018, reaching 41.5 million international visitors, being surpassed only by France (Nº 1), Spain (Nº 2), USA (Nº3), China (Nº4) and Italy (Nº5). These reports would lead us to believe… that Mexico is without doubt one of the world ́s travel super powers. However, we have a series of additional challenges which I ́d like to address:
